It is not useful to have the title field as we already have the gender field. Often times it is either not recorded properly or creates a sense of confusion, and even discomfort, for those who have to make assumptions surrounding gender identity and marital status. Those using the medical record suggest that the gender portion of the patient’s demographic information provides enough information.
